We were so fortunate during the month of June... We just returned from an almost 4 week vacation that took J and A to Brazil, and the kids to Dallas, and then we all went from Dallas to Kansas. We've had a lot of new memories created and fun stories to share. We're going to tackle this with two separate posts. Part 1 is dedicated to the summer adventures of our little ones...
The star of this post is most definitely Grandma Susie! She so kindly offered to host Camp Grandma Susie for 14 days! Incredible!
The kids swam just almost every single day, sometimes twice, and even three times one day which has led to their development as slippery fish. Post trip they have told every person they see about swimming at Grandma's. They had such an amazing time and we could not have been any more grateful! (The next post will include more than anyone will ever what to see of hear about our trip to Brazil for those 14 days of Camp Grandma Susie!)
Poor Uncle J on the bottom of the totem pole!
From Texas to Kansas
One of our favorite places to go when we visit is to go to an super upscale petting farm. Here we saw and touched all your various farm animals, watched a cow milking, rode ponies, went fishing, played on playgrounds and in sprinklers, and finished up the morning with ice cream!
Lucky for us, our trip fell over the 4th of July, so we started the day with special ordered red, white and blue sprinkle donuts so thoughtfully taken care of by Grandpa before heading to the city parade. Our kids had a blast and gathered tons of candy from local politicians campaigning. That night we let Grandpa stay home with the baby so they could both sleep and the rest of us crazies got close enough to the fireworks to have ash raining on us the whole time. The older kids loved it that night, and were beyond grumpy the next day...we'll try to remember the fun part of that alone!
(I had found this red/white striped shirt for B at a discount store for a quarter! It automatically made me think of my dad who frequently wears the same shirt. I obviously had to pack it even if it only got worn that one day!)
