Mama said, Mama said...

Mama said, "There'll be days like this,"...
(Or maybe the words should have been "There'll be two and a half hour segments like this," this Mama said.)

Having been in a dinner making funk, I made what we call 'coisa' for dinner (literally, 'thing' in Portuguese) which ended up pretty much okay compared to the other unidentifiable coisas we've been consuming lately. Then rushed husband out the door while he was on a phone call he couldn't not take. On to grumpy, yet freshly bathed, tired kids to put down, who were all acting crazy and deciding to have multiple 'accidents' some of which aren't really accidental at all. (grumble, grumble) Yet, somehow I managed to calm my total frustration and continue the routine of reading scriptures and stories (which 2 of the 3 didn't finish and cried out asking for bed immediately). Hence, I felt the need to partake of a delicious microwaved smore to defunk, and of course, dripped hot melted chocolate all down my favorite sweater. AWESOME! Yes we are over a month overdue the first day of school update, which might come someday, but for today, we just want to keep it real here folks- we are great at keeping it real. That's why I then went for the hunk of frozen cookie dough to defunk the first attempt at defunking. Maybe next week we'll go for the cute first day of school photos- much cuter than this!

Oh Alexis, you make me laugh. I really enjoyed this post. I felt like this today. I got home from 2 hrs at the library and looked in the rear view mirror only to say to myself, "Wow, did I really just go out looking like this?" I often defunk with the frozen cookie dough chunk. But today, we're all out of sweets and I had to defunk on nectarines and watermelon....no fun. Then Phil got home at 9:30 from 12 hrs away with a bag of dove chocolate in hand. Love that man....

OH my. You rock. Seriously. This post is exactly what I needed today. Sometimes I feel like I am all alone in this crazy/motherhood/lotofyoungchildren/Jeff'sgettinghisdoctorate/thing. But no. There are other moms who have bad days and just need a little sugar to sweeten it up. You are so awesome. Thanks!

Oh my gosh. I love you so much, Lex. I loved being your roommate, I love being your friend, I love you defunking the defunking effort. Yes, yes, and more yes. :)

Ha Ha I love it. Last night I ate 5 cookies and watched 3 hours of TV after I yelled at my kids to get in bed which was after a dinner of frozen pizza. Not the best parenting moment I've had but when husbands are busy/absent what can we do!
