Adventures with Grandma S

So, with Grandma in town, we are visiting new places in Santiago, and revisiting old favorites. Yesterday we visited Cerro Santa Lucia again; however, this time with Grandma. This hill is where Santiago was initially founded in the 1540s (we think). Pedro De Valdivia named the hill Santa Lucia in 1540.

The various pictures in this post represent the uniqueness and amazing qualities that the Castle has. It is quite impressive. Equally impressive are the stunning views of Santiago from the hill.

Although it's cloudy, you can still notice the snow covered Andes Mountains in the background.

After climbing the hill, we went to an artisan fair at the bottom and looked for "unique" Chilean artifacts for Grandma S to buy. She bought a nice scarf, some fabric, two statues of the Easter Island Maori Statues, a copper plated journal, a turtle made of lapizlazuli, and a fun spinning top. She was able to practice her Spanish and even barter with the sellers.

We have also enjoyed going to church together and playing at the Plaza de Brazil, C's favorite park in Santiago.

Our future adventures and posts include Cerro San Cristobal, the various malls in Santiago, discovering "American" food, J's concerts, and more...
