What we've been up to

So, for various reasons, most of which we don't really know, we have been very slow to update this blog. However, we're alive and doing well in Santiago. Here's an update of recent happenings.

Because it's winter, it's obviously colder here in Santiago. The apartments and houses don't have central heat, so we have to bundle up at night with lots of blankets to stay warm. C wears several layers at night, including a Tigger costume.

We have also taken a few new pictures of various places around Santiago on our walks.

We went to the Parque Arauco mall to walk around and get out of the immediate downtown area. This mall is VERY nice and has a lot of "American" stores and restuarants. We ate at Tony Roma's and also saw a T.G.I. Fridays, an Apple Store, and a Ruby Tuesdays. It was fun to be in a new place and walk around in a nice mall.

We also went out to a part of Santiago called La Florida. J has a colleuage from the orchestra who's daughter had her 7th birthday party. We got to know another fun location and make new friends. They had an inflatable jumper and C had a complete blast.

This was the amazing birthday cake

Now, Grandma S is in town and C is having a blast playing with her. Grandma will be here for 2 and a half weeks playing with us and taking a Spanish class. Shortly there will be photo updates of our adventures. She arrived safely and is having fun, minus enduring the cold of the apartment. She and C have been playing with jewelry (a favorite of C) and watching Grandma put on make-up (another favorite of C).
