Fun Times Update

Finger Painting

C has found the joy in coloring and finger painting. She and J were painting the other day when things got out of hand and faces started to get painted. C laughed and laughed and thought it was so funny. It sure beats her using her crayons on the walls and fridge!

Anastasia

C's newest friend in Santiago is Anastasia. Anastasia's dad works with J at the theater; he plays the French Horn. C says "nasia" when she wants to play with Anastasia and loves to see her. We made empanadas with them the other day and the two girls played a lot. They have since played several times. C is so happy that she has so many friends in Santiago, especially the kids from the nursery at church.

Silliness With Mom

C also loves to be silly with her mom. Here is a picture of one of their newest games, making silly faces for each other. Most recently they put on their hooded sweatshirts and pretend to be "Dopey" from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Apple Empanadas

Yesterday we experimented and were greatly rewarded. After making regular empanadas the other day, A made apple empanadas. Sweet empanadas filled with apple pie filling. All of it from scratch and all of it great! They were excellent. We fed the missionaries lunch and gave them several empanadas. Elder Ramirez is from the north of Chile and had never heard of sweet empanadas. His look when we told him what they were was of pure shock. However, once he ate them he couldn't stop. He thought that they were so unique that he wanted to take a picture to email to his family.

How fun for her to have little friends there. What great memories you guys are making! I've never heard of or had an empenada--how naive of me, huh? Maybe someday when we get together we can taste yours.
