Spring Break

We just returned from a fun spring break trip to NYC. J has lots of family, and we haven't been able to go for quite a while, so we packed up our car and headed out! We tried to get out and about quite a bit, despite the morning after arriving, the snow count came to 18 inches!

We decided to make the most of it that first day and finally convinced our little nina that playing outside in the snow was worth having to change out of her beloved skirt (worn at least once each day) and into warm clothes!
A few days later we had a girls date into Manhattan and did it the most exciting way we could for our little gal, by bus, ferry (so she could say hello to Lady Liberty and go on her first ever boat ride) and subway to get to our first destination, the Muesum of Modern Art (MoMA). There she was able to see an exibit of Monet's water lilies, and her favorite masterpiece, Starry Night by Vincent VanGogh.

After a few galleries, we discovered a kids section where she could make her own art by arranging large colored magnets on a wall painted with magnetic paint. I think I actually had more fun there than she did!

She was more interested in relaxing in fun chairs and then finding a medium more her style- standard colored pencils and paper.
Then we headed off to the FAO Schwartz, but she wasn't nearly as goo-goo eyed over all the toys and huge stuffed animals as she was over the candy display. Next time we will have to take her by the M&M and Hershey stores! She did have a good time on the 'Big' Piano.

The next fun day out was to the Liberty Science Center (a top ranked science museum for families), just let the kids run around not worried they would break anything!

The rest of the time we spent enjoying time with family and eating good food- namely the bagels that can't be beat, and lots of black and white cookies!

On the way home we stopped and stayed with a friend of mine from middle/high school and her family. Our kiddos had a great time meeting their little boy, and were fast friends. Thanks Shepherds for the great food and time to catch up!
