After being gone from home for a month, I've accumulated many pictures and stories. One of my favorites is as follows:
While on our vacation to visit family for the holidays, the kids and I stayed with my folks for an extra 8 days while Dad headed north to do a final recital and defend his completed work to receive a Doctorate. The kids had become quite accustomed to having Dad around more than normal. After only a few days of him being in Michigan, C found this blow up doll that was her aunt's from high school. She then thought we should find clothes for the poor boy, and it just so happens that 2-3T clothes fit this doll perfectly!
With clothes in place, I then asked what we should name the doll, and she suggested, "Daddy!" I laughed, but tried to sway her another direction, which she was fine with. However, little Mr. B carried "Daddy" around all day, and even wanted to show him the snow that was coming down.
The poor little boy missed his daddy so much, and was more than outnumbered female-male during the day. Good thing that when "Dr. Daddy" got home a few days later, he was warmly greeted by children who loved him so much!
(A few years ago, J told our eldest that when he when he did become a Dr., she could call him Dr. Daddy- maybe it will stick now!)
We are so proud of you Dr. Daddy!
And, an extra "THANKS!," shout out to my mom who helped with the kids more than I could have ever asked for!

Congratulations J! That is very exciting and a lot of hard work. I love the story about the inflatable Daddy; though it was a little sad :( but they all look so happy together in the end! I hope you are all well!
Congrats to Dr. J! That's so huge! I bet you are relieved!
The blow-up doll is so funny--was that Adrienne's, or your older sister's?
Luckily the picture of all of us was right after we all woke up and were having breakfast... Not the best photo op, but fun to be together... I do think it's cool to be Dr. J - just like the great Dr. J the basketball legend. Plus, I can now have my own Dr. Pepper commercial: "You can play higher because it has 23 flavors... Trust me, I'm a Dr.!"
Congrats on the PhD -- that is fabulous!!!! Glad you are all together again.
Congratulations! Everyone looks great. The kiddos are precious as ever. Give them a big hug and kiss for me. I haven't been able to write anything as I had a horrible computer virus on my computer.
