Laughing out loud

I am so glad and grateful, every day, that I am able to be home with my little girl to help take care of her and watch her learn and grow. I know that every parent has their dotting moments, but mine today made me laugh out loud. I'm so glad I took a picture or two to document it.

Story goes that I was putting things away in my bedroom, and heard her clamoring around in the bedroom next where I was. She first put on some shorts that were laying around from yesterday (on top of her pjs), then pulled out her new favorite shoes, my red shoes with low heels. The next noise I couldn't identify, but a minute later I heard her singing something resembling, "Happy Birthday!" over and over again. As she rounded the corner to enter my room, this is what I saw:

A horn-tooting, "Happy Birthday!," parade leader.

She would switch between 'playing' a trumpet (on a trumpet mute), and then putting the cone shaped mute on her head to represent a hat worn at birthday parties. This was extra funny to me because to my knowledge, she has never been to a birthday party with cone shaped hats. And has one picture, in one book, on one page, that shows little kids wearing such hats that we haven't read for over a week or two. I love that she is able to put together all kinds of little things and remember the smallest of details. It's so fun to watch her learn and grow in abilities.

At the same time, I still love to catch moments like this, that remind me she is still my little baby for now- rear end up in the air and all.
And here is our little shout out to Pops- we had a great time seeing you this weekend! (We loved seeing the rest of you too, but this was the only picture I took...so sent me yours!)

By the way...happy 100th post to us!

Hey Kids,

Caitlin is definitely a character. Those pictures are absolutely precious. Treasure these moments while you can. They won't last forever.
