First off, the nina and I have survived our week alone without Dad, and he is now home. He was invited to attend a workshop at Carnegie Hall this past week and learn from and work with the top brass instrumentalists in the country.
It was a small select group, and you can even see him pictured next to himself on the poster outside Carnegie Hall (...he is the small black and white imageon the second row, far right) If it wasn't such a great opportunity for him, I would have had a harder time being happy about being a single parent for 8 days. However, we couldn't be more proud of him!Secondly, yesterday we thoroughly enjoyed our first real snow of the season!
Check out the big snowflakes...the nina wanted to, "Build snowman!" But we didn't have enough to really do that...maybe in the next week or two.Thirdly, I would like to officially announce that my first ever quilt is done! D-O-N-E! And although it is less than perfect, I learned much, and hopefully whatever vetran that receives it will have little to no quilting experience and therefore appreciate the imperfections and added character!
For being one that takes a while to start, and even longer to finish a project, I am quite proud of myself- and for my mom who thought she had failed by sending her 3 girls off to the world , "unable to cook or sew"- we are making it just fine, eh?!

Congratulations to both of you!
I really wish I'd taken an opportunity to hear Jason play while I was at BYU. I know he played in big orchestral performances I heard, but I've never heard him play solo. Let me know if you guys are ever within a shortish distance from Hershey or DC.
loved talking with you. congrats on the quilt. glad to know you and your famous husband!
WOW, Jason is amazing! What a talented husband you have. And a great quilt! I'm sure whoever gets it will LOVE it!
That quilt is awesome, Alexis! Good work! :) Quilting is something I am trying to build up courage for. So far it hasn't gotten past asking for and getting a book about quilting for my birthday...hmm.
Cool opportunity! Did Jason like it?
Congrats to you both. And congrats on the quilt! I started a quilt three years ago and still haven't finished it... one of these days :)
Jason-
This is Andy. That sounds like an awesome opportunity! I can honestly say I will never have my picture next to Phil Smith's!
Hey Alexis
Great job on the quilt. I can't sew for beans. My talents lie in crocheting, knitting, crossstitching, etc. Keep up the good work. I can hem up pants and that's about it. Talk to you soon.
