History

Last night I stayed up late to watch the coverage of the election results. To be honest, it was great to participate in this election. I can tell my children that I voted when they study this election in their American History classes in 20 years. I didn't have to wait in line, but I would have. It felt great to be an American and to exercise my right to vote... freely.

Although I didn't lean his way, I now look forward to Obama. To be inspired, watch this:

His speeches tend to lift and motivate, although they cloud reality with images of patriotism and possibly unreal expectations... They allure you by giving you the "magic" answer. But, I let myself get swept up like many Americans with this one. It's OK, we're all on the same team.

I'm glad that California got it right on their main proposal. It's unfortunate that Michigan got it wrong (in many ways). After living in a very liberal state and a completely ridiculous liberal college town, I hope my fears of an incredibly liberal Washington don't come true...

However, today I'm moved and impressed and maybe "we can..."
