Our cute little girl, Caitlin, is learning new things every day. She is overall a very friendly and happy baby, and never ceases to amaze us with her emerging personality.
Case in point...
This past Sunday we were at church sitting in our pew. Since she was growing bored of sitting in a carseat, Jason picked her up and was letting her jump up and down in his arms. Then she caught eye of a middle aged gentleman in the row behind us. He, just like many others, thought she was cute and began making faces at her and smiling. She of course smiled back and was quickly entertained.
The man then began to play peek-a-boo with Caitlin. (This is one of her new favorite things for us to play with her, and has been very useful in distracting her when she feels frustrated or tired. ) Then, this intelligent babe decided to start playing peek-a-boo for herself! While still standing on Dad's lap, she ducked her head down below his shoulder to hide her face, ...waited a second,... and then popped her head up! This of course was all with a HUGE smile on her face!
What a silly goose! We all laughed at the realization of her discovering how to play peek-a-boo too! She repeated the same action about 8-10 times, making herself laugh as well!
We then relished in the moment of having the smartest baby alive. Two days later we were at a restaurant, and she was bored in her stroller while we were eating. She then caught the attention of a woman across the room, and started playing peek-a-boo with her too! This of course made both tables laugh, much to Caitlin's delight.
We now carry T-shirts with us that say, "Caitlin's #1 Fan," and, "The cutest 7 month old played peek-a-boo with me!" everywhere we go, so these people can buy them and start her college fund. She does all the work; we just sit back and enjoy the show!
