Happy 4th of July!

This is Caitlin's first 4th of July, and so, when she woke up this morning I told her all about why we celebrate the 4th of July. In all reality, I was trying to buy time. Jason had left the room, and I didn't really want to get out of bed yet, so I talked to her (still in her crib) while I was still in bed. She got a quite lengthy description of Independence Day, which lasted until Jason came back in and got her out of her crib to liberate her!

Notice that this is a patriotic outfit, saying "I Love America." It will most likely be the only time she wears this outfit ever! Let's make sure to keep it clean the whole day, okay?!

I am in all reality very grateful for the amazing blessing of living in this country, and for all that has been sacrificed to allow the freedoms that are offered.

At Church on Sunday we sang all the patriotic hymns, including the National Anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner." I was touched that as the first verse was finishing, an older gentleman in a wheelchair turned to his daughter, who proceeded to find someone to help her pull her father to a standing position so that he could stand and sing this Anthem. He sang with such feeling that I felt my eyes begin to tear up. I am grateful for the way he reminded me as to what Independence Day is about.

I figured with as blue of eyes as this young cherub possesses, that I only needed to make sure she had red and white on today! Hope you all have a happy 4th!
